How much power does an oxygen concentrator use?
Maker figures for five home concentrators, and how many hours a power station could run each one. The short answer: a few hours, not days.

A power station does not replace backup oxygen
This is a planning estimate from published specs, not medical advice. Keep backup oxygen cylinders as your supplier advises. The FDA advises asking your device maker or supplier whether your concentrator can run on battery power and how, telling your electric company and fire department that you use a powered medical device, and using battery lights, not candles or gas lights, when oxygen is in use. If you depend on a device to stay alive, the FDA says to seek emergency services. What to check first.

Every station against this concentrator
None of these makers publishes a start-up surge for its concentrator, so only the running output is checked; ask your supplier. Prices are what each maker's US store showed on Oct 18, 2026.

Concentrator power from maker specs
| Concentrator | Figure | Watts | Hours on 1 kWh usable |
|---|
Hours on 1 kWh usable = 1,000 ÷ watts, a quick comparison. A 1,070 Wh station gives about 910 Wh usable at Jackery's 0.85 factor.
How the hours are worked out
Hours = capacity × share you can use × inverter efficiency ÷ the concentrator's watts. Makers state power differently: Philips and Invacare give an average, DeVilbiss and CAIRE give a figure at a low flow and an average or maximum, and Inogen gives the power supply's rating plus a figure at setting 2. Use the one closest to your prescribed flow, or the higher one if unsure. Sources are on Methods and sources.
